Ahhh, Autumn: October News

Happy October, my wonderful readers!

And a very Happy 1st Birthday to my beautiful grandbaby, Aurelia!

Writing News:

It’s a very peculiar thing for me, perhaps for other creators as well. But, regardless of the success I’ve had in the past, the smallest question or comment from an editor can make me question my ability to tell a good story at all. No matter how many four star reviews I have on Amazon, my writing can be stalled in its tracks, maybe not so much what the editor writes in the margins, but the implications of the comments. It can be a real downer.

So, yes, my revisions have slowed to a snail’s pace, but I’m still plugging away, hoping that the next installment of the Gabrielle Dorian Series, Dreams and Deceptions, will surpass its predecessor and keep you, my readers happy and ready for more.

November will be a busy month for me. I’m determined to finish the first draft of book 3 in the Gabrielle Dorian Mystery Series, Dreams and Temptations.

On the flip side, I was asked by the editor of the New York State of Crime Anthology, in which my story “A Deadly Conundrum” appeared,  to contribute to a new anthology based on Aesop’s Fables. I wrote “Beware the Piano Man” for that one, from the fable “The King’s Son and he Painted Lion.” Hopefully, it will make the cut. I had a lot of fun writing it!

Also in the news, I registered for another NYC Midnight challenge. This theme is Scary Stories and kicks off on October 31st. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Bunny News:

My daughter and I have a couple does who have been doing very well in the shows. We traveled to Cashmere, WA for the Washington State Convention and did some sight-seeing along the way. We had three shows, with our does taking turns winning Best of Breed, and one of my bucks winning Best Opposite Breed for all three shows! In the final show, my doe (Pretty Lady) won second place over all the breeds, Reserve Best in Show, and then went on to win Reserve Best-of-the-Best! It was quite a thrill.

Pretty Lady and her son Em will be traveling to Indianapolis next month for the national convention. Unfortunately, we will not be going with them this year.

Quilting News:

The Walla Walla Quilt Festival was so much fun this year! I didn’t finish my quilt to enter it, but my daughter decided to join the local Quilt Guild, then ended up winning a brand new Pfaff! We have had a lot of fun attending quilt retreats and sew-ins together. I’m having to discipline myself and not quilt until I get my writing done. I guess I’m addicted…

I hope you all enjoy the beauty of autumn. Until next time …

Happy reading!

Rebecca
